Long-Acting Injectables
Created by our Medical Director and Director of Pharmacy, this pre-recorded presentation is intended for prescribers. This training event will help prescribers understand how antipsychotic medication adherence decreases relapse, readmissions and hospitalization.
Learning Objectives
- Identify the different types of medications used to treat schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder with psychotic features, and other psychotic disorders.
- Understand common antipsychotic side effects, the importance of routine monitoring, and the program improvement project for diabetes screening.
- Identify barriers that may prevent members from taking long acting injectable antipsychotic (LAIA) medications.
- Utilize clinical insights to ensure members at greatest risk for readmission and relapse are initiated on an LAIA prior to discharge
