Heritage Health (Medicaid)
The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) encourages low-income households to apply for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). LIHEAP helps low-income households stay safe and healthy by providing financial assistance to offset the costs of heating and cooling. The heating season for LIHEAP begins October 1 and continues through March 31.
To qualify for LIHEAP, a household must:
- Have income at or below 150% of the federal poverty level (FPL)
- Meet the LIHEAP citizenship and residency requirements
- Be responsible for home energy utilities
- Not be otherwise disqualified or ineligible
Individuals who are currently receiving Economic Assistance benefits do not need to submit an application to receive LIHEAP. Learn more about LIHEAP and home energy assistance at DHHS.ne.gov/Pages/Energy-Assistance.aspx.
