Centene-WellCare acquisition

As many providers are likely aware, Centene, the parent company of Nebraska Total Care recently acquired WellCare, the parent company of WellCare of Nebraska. In most markets we are joining our businesses together. In Nebraska, however, WellCare of Nebraska’s Medicaid product was sold to Anthem. 

For Nebraska Total Care providers, nothing is changing. You should continue to treat members from Nebraska Total Care as you do under your current contract. Your existing provider support channels will remain in place, and your patients’ current Member ID cards will remain valid. We will communicate any relevant changes in health plan operations to you well in advance.

If you also participate with WellCare of Nebraska, as of January 23, 2020, Anthem is the owner of that product and you should communicate with Anthem regarding their administration of the business.
